Encounter specialist Ravindranath Angre, aged 50 has been finally granted bail by the Supreme Court. Nilofar Shaikh has the update. Encounter specialist Ravindranath Angre had surrendered before the Naupada police a year ago after the SC rejected his anticipatory bail plea in an alleged case of extortion and threatening, filed against him by local builder Ganesh Wagh. Presently lodged in Thane Central Jail, Angre was defended by noted lawyer-cum-politician Arun Jaitley and Sriprakash Sinha, who argued for his bail in the SC. Sources close to Angre family said that the family was pleased to learn the release of Angre finally. According to sources the bail order will be handed over to the Thane jail officials and Angre will be released this week after completing the legal formalities. However the trial in the case is yet to start in the lower court. Ganesh Wagh, a small time SRA builder from Thane and Ravindra Angre relation goes way back in 2001 when apparently Wagh had received threatening calls from Chotta Rajan and it was Angre who had handled the case. Since then two often kept in touch and spoke to each other on various topics. According to Ganesh Wagh it was in April 2007 that Angre showed his true colours to the Wagh family. It was when Ganesh was admitted for Hepatitis B and was virtually in state of coma that allegedly Angre realized that he can snatch the Wagh family’s property once Ganesh was dead. It was then Angre hatched the plan of transferring the property of Ganesh by forcefully taking his signature on a blank stamp paper. Ganesh Wagh had also taken the assistance of local Sena MLA Eknath Shinde. Bureau report – NMTV News.
