SECURITY OF MINISTERS BECOMES A QUESTION IN THE STATE

harshawardanpatil1It was quite a scene at Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Patil’s bungalow in Mumbai when making a complete mockery of the security cover given to Ministers in Maharashtra, a group of women from the Jeejau brigade entered Harshvardhan Patl’s bungalow, locked themselves inside the house of Parliamentary Affairs Minister and raised slogans for reservation. It has been quite some time that the workers of the Jeejau brigade have been demanding reservation for their community but ultimate shocker was their plan to bring their demand to the attention of the state. The plan that was executed to the T saw more than 15 women, mostly of higher middle-class background, walking into Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Patil’s bungalow opposite Mantralaya on the pretext of meeting him for some discussions. The security at the bungalow failed to check the credentials of the women who entered the Minister’s residence with ease. Once inside the women immediately bolted the doors and started shouting slogans demanding reservation. Fortunately, for Patil he was not present to face the ire of the women as he was in his office at Mantralaya when the incident took place. The women stayed inside the house for almost half hour and came out only after Harshwardhan Patil personally assured them that he would speak to the Chief Minister on their issue. The incident also made a mockery of the security cover given to the Ministers of the State. However, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan says that there isn’t much to the incident in yet another attempt to cover up the lapses of the state security forces.
