The Best Committee members have opposed the 15 paise additional tax that is collected from BEST commuters that is given to the state government. The committee has decided that they now would not hand over the collection to the government which will give a boost of Rs 20 crores to BEST. BEST Committee members have decided that they will not pay additional tax to the state government. The Committee plans to meet up with the Chief Minister of the State. The Secretary of BEST Union, Sunil Dhanacharya said that for the last 35-36 years, the government was collecting 15 paise additional tax. He added that money will help BEST to recover its losses. Best Committee member Ravi Raja said that the money collected from the commuters should be used for their benefits. BEST Committee Chairman, Sanjay Potnis said that the 15 paisa is collected from BEST commuters and so it belongs to the BEST administration.
