“Shame on Namdeo Bhagat” Say Women As Victim Reveals Molestation Ordeal

Reports of sexual violence, molestation, sexual harassment from Nerul village : a stronghold of Shiv Sena corporator Namdeo Bhagat have always been heard of but never reported until a 19 year old girl dared the might of the Bhagats in their ward. Not fearing threats to her family to the extent of putting her house on fire, the girl has come out in the open to allege how Namdeo Bhagat molested her. Speaking to the media, she said that he first came to be known to her when her father, a NMMC employee, was transferred.

It was when she went to him for monetary assistance that he fooled her into coming to his farm house in Uran in his car. He reportedly told the girl that his family is at Uran so she can be rest assured. On the way, he inappropriately touched which she objected to. At the farm house, he “offered” her to take bath in the pond behind the farm house. She refused. He then went to show her his bedroom and when she started panicking and leaving, he grabbed her and molested her.

The girl said that she has been warned of dire consequences of taking on the Bhagats, but she says she is determined to not take back the case.

She voiced her determination that such a person cannot be a corporator of people.

While women leaders who shout women empowerment from rooftops, in political parties and in NGOs, are sitting as mute spectators, resident women of Nerul village have dared to take on the Bhagats.
