Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray, mayor Shubha Raul and a delegation of Sena leaders called on Chavan and said that the Congress-controlled MMRDA was responsible for the mess in the city. They said the MMRDA and the Airports Authority of India had not followed guidelines, which would lead to flooding. Uddhav Thackeray also criticized the MMRDA for not completing work on the Versova-Ghatkopar Metro corridor and skywalks before the monsoon. He said that at Bandra (E), the MMRDA had built a road at an excessive height and residents of Kalanagar, including the Thackerays, would face flooding. Earlier during the week a Congress-NCP delegation of the coalition’s MLAs met Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and criticized the MCGM’s monsoon preparedness. Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said that both the ruling and opposition sides had met him but said that this wasn’t to extract mileage but to work together for the betterment of Mumbai city. However, despite the Chief Minister’s statement a NCP leader said that the meetings were held to exact political mileage.
