As Matoshree transformed into Pandharpur, the media got a chance to speak to Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. From Gopinath Munde to Chagan Bhujbal and Narayan Rane, he did not think twice before taunting and hitting out at almost everyone, including the media. One could see in his style and attitude why is considered to be the most iconic personality in the State of Maharashtra. Here are some excerpts of the candid talk he had with the media.
Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray is worshipped by his party members and adored by a vast majority of the Marathi manoos. Recently when Matoshree transformed into Pandharpur, the media met Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray who was back to his normal style of speaking on everything the media asked him. When it’s a Thackeray interview, questions on Chagan Bhujbal and Narayan Rane are bound to come up. This time when the media asked whether the Shiv Sena would have been in a better position had these leader been there still in Shiv Sena, Balasaheb Thackeray said that Chagan Bhujbal quit Sena at his own will but he had kicked Narayan Rane out of the party.
Speaking on the entire drama of Gopinath Munde leaving the BJP, Balasaheb Thackeray recalled that years ago too Munde had hinted at leaving the BJP but the Sr. Thackeray convinced him not to. The media also termed the alliance of Athwale, Thackeray, and Munde as the ATM alliance. On a question that Munde’s departure would have broken this ATM alliance, Balasaheb Thackeray voiced relief that the media gave the alliance the term ATM and not HIV.
And how can there be a media interaction with the Sr. Thackeray without the topic moving on to Sonia Gandhi. For the UPA Chairperson and Congress, as always Balasaheb Thackeray was full of criticism. Even Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was not spared by the Sr. Thackeray. When someone again posed a question on Munde, Balasaheb Thackeray did not hesitate to hit out at the media too. And perhaps the statement of the day was Balasaheb Thackeray’s reaction to the big news of Amitabh Bachchan going to be a grandfather. Well, no one has an answer to that one.
