standing-5The members at the weekly Standing Committee meet once again came down heavily on the NMMC administration HODs for the inefficiency they have been demonstrating in public work unless being prodded by MLA Sandeep Naik. The heated argument took place over the issue of medical health center of NMMC in the city. This week, the NMMC administration presented a proposal in front of the Standing Committee for extend the lease period of the premises being used for NMMC Health Center at Mahape for another 22 months. When the Chairman read the proposal for approval, he made a very logical suggestion that will save public taxes being spent on rent on these centers in the long run. He suggested to the administration that instead of paying rent, the administration should study the areas where health center were on CIDCO or MIDC land and to write to these government organizations of handing over land to NMMC for medical services. It was here that corporator Shivram Patil made a point of order and attacked the NMMC administration’s Head of Dept.s and officials for demonstrating inefficiency in getting such public work done. He taunted at NMMC Health Dept.s HOD Dr. Paropkari and said that despite being foreign return, Dr. Paropkari was failing to understand how the municipal health dept. should function. He said that officials are given posts on the grounds that they have brains then why aren’t the officials using their brains. Shivram Patil said that it was always MLA Sandeep Naik – the Chairman of the NMMC Standing Committee Meet who has to tell the administration what to do and what not to do. And only after that public work gets done. MLA Sandeep Naik once again reminded the administration their role as administrators at NMMC. Speaking to NMTV News after the meet, MLA Sandeep Naik said that they have notified the administration to stop the practice of taking MIDC and CIDCO premises on lease and write to them for land instead. He assured of following the same at state level in his capacity of MLA. With Managing Editor Zeba Warsia, Sana Warsia for NMTV News.
