In a shocking incident, three rounds were fired at the commercial hub of Vashi, sector 17 at the site of Shah Signature. In the incident one person was injured who was the site engineer and was shot at his stomach twice and once on the hand. According to the police officials, the men belonged to the Ravi Pujari gang. One person was injured after two unidentified persons opened fire at the site of Shah Signature at sector 17 in Vashi on Monday. Sanjay Phatak (35), the site engineer was shot at his stomach and hand. While two bullets were fired on his stomach, one was fired on his hand. Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmad Javed, DCP (Zone I) Ashok Dudhe, DCP (Crime) DT Shinde, ACP (Vashi Division) Mujeeb Shaikh and crime branch officials along with officials from Vashi Police Station visited the spot following the incident. Also arrived on site was the CMD of Shah Group Nalin Shah and his son Neerav Shah. The police officials spoke with Nalin Shah to get any information of calls being received by him by the shooters. Speaking to the media, Nalin Shah said that he had never got any extortion call from the Pujari gang before the incident. According to police, the miscreants owed allegiance to Ravi Pujari gang. The incident happened at around 12.45 pm after two unidentified men walked into the office with two pistols and abused Phatak and Supervisor Prashant Dighe. After the firing, they gave a piece of paper to Dighe and asked him to give it to his boss. Police have also found two empty shells of the cartridges that were fired on Pathak. Pathak was rushed to Fortis Hiranandani hospital and was operated and is said to be out of danger now. Sardesai informed that post the incident, the police has started nakabandi in the region. Sources informed that Nalin Shah had got an extortion call in the year 2008 from the Pujari gang but the case was never registered. The usual modus of Pujari is to make an extortion call first and then fire but in this case it is for the first time that he has conducted an operation without making the call first. Sector 17 Vashi is known as the commercial hub of the city with many people frequently the sector daily.
