SHOPS AT TURBHE’S JANTA MARKET OBSERVE A DAY’S BANDH IN PROTEST OF RISE IN ROBBERY

turbe-loot-2Looters made the most of Saturday night and looted 10 shops at a stretch in Turbhe. Protesting the increase in robberies all shops at Turbhe’s janta market observed a bandh. Robbers robbed 10 shops in Turbhe’s janta market at a stretch. In the last 9 months, there has been a steep rise in the cases of robberies here. There are 250 shops in the market that shut there business for a day and observed a bandh to protest the increase in robberies and the failure of the police to control them. Shop owners allege that anti social elements take refuge in nearby the Turbhe stores and slum settlements. They informed us that in the year 1995, they funded the making of a police chowki but very often there are no officers who sit there. They accuse the police for taking the robberies lightly that has given the impetus to the rise in criminal activities.
