NMMC schools will soon go hi-tech with the administration planning to distribute smart I-cards to its students and staff. The project at a cost of Rs 15 lakhs to 20 lakhs will help NMMC Education to keep a check on the daily attendance of the students and staff of the school. Apart from starting computer labs and audio visual labs in its schools, the NMMC Education department has now decided to provide students and staff with smart I-cards. These will be provided to all 28000 students, 540 teachers, 225 cleaning workers and security persons. With these cards the civic body will be able to record accurate attendance of the students and staff. Ravi Iyer, chairman of the NMMC Education Committee gave us more insight.
