Smiles Foundation gets felicitated with ‘Pravasi Ratna Awards’ by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari

Even as the rise of COVID-19 witnessed deaths, panic and anguish, leaderships across the world awakened to provide and sustain it’s citizens, spearheading the government’s initiatives many NGO’s came at the frontlines in supporting the relief-work by feeding the hungry, distributing essentials, educating and spreading awareness of the same to their respective communities.

For Navi Mumbai, Smiles Foundation has been one such of an NGO which was forged in crisis and which has worked relentlessly round the clock in aiding the poor, the needy and the underprivileged sections of the society.

Smiles Foundation has been the only active NGO in the city that has made its mark by standing upto Navi Mumbaikars in challenging times as of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Driven with the passion of service to humanity, the founders of Smiles Foundation, Mr. Dhiraj Ahuja and Mrs. Uma Ahuja have strived in leading Smiles to reach out to the affected in different arenas of Navi Mumbai with the zeal of making a significant contribution to a better and a brighter tomorrow.

Smiles Foundation has achieved various awards by officials and authorities in power recognising their selfless acts amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adding onto their merit, Smiles Foundation was awarded with the Pravasi Ratna awards by Maharastra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day for their exemplary service and dedication towards the society and the nation as whole.

Even as Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari felicitated Smiles Foundation, he urged individuals to come forth in contributing towards the welfare of the society and strive to make the country proud, more so joining hands in making the world a better place to inhabit in.

Governor Koshyari further praised the duo, thereby encouraging, appreciating and motivating the very vision, mission and values of Smiles Foundation.

Ever since the dawn of the pandemic, Team Smiles have come to the rescue of lakhs of families and provided them with grocery kits, food and safety essentials and have gone over and beyond in offering aid and relief-materials to the desperate families affected during the Maharastra floods.

From visiting to being a part in the relief and rehabilitation work at Chiplun, Birwadi, Mahad, Wai and Zor areas of Maharashtra, the Ahuja’s and Team Smiles have sent water tankers, distributed food essentials, provided clothes for men, women and children, offered basic medicines, sanitary pads, adult diapers, footwear, blankets, soaps, candles, towels, utensils, umbrellas, buckets, mugs, steel plates, steel glasses, sarees, biscuits, chocolates, snack packets, drinking water bottles, etc.

Smiles Foundation’s work has been praised for various other offerings to the society which includes rolling out of insurance policies for domestic workers, initiating ambulance services during distressing times, installation of CCTV cameras to help in crime detection and providing oxygen cylinders to the needy along with a local gurudwara during crippling COVID times.

Team Smiles have demonstrated a strong and positive stand and has spread abroad its mission limiting itself to no boundaries thereby successfully reaching out in aiding more than 1.7 lakh families while bringing smiles on their faces.
