After the feedback received by the Central Railway (CR) from suburban commuters, the Western Railway is also seeking public participation to improve services. For the same the Western Railways has started the SMS scheme. With a view to involve public participation we have also introduced an SMS scheme for all the divisions of WR. It will be introduced on an experimental basis for three months, after which the scheme will be reviewed. Commuters can send their suggestions or complaints to 9004477777. Suggestions received will be compiled and on the basis of feasibility and priority, will be categorized for short-term, medium and long-term implementation. On April 16, CR introduced a scheme wherein people could send feedback to 9004411111. The Central Railways initiated various improvement works across the suburban section, including cleaning of gutters, sanctioning the construction of foot-over-bridges and clearing station premises of hawkers. Senior officials of railways monitor every message and direct department heads to act on them. In the case of Western Railways, the feedback that the railways have received include increasing frequency of trains, cleanliness within trains, repair of seats in first class coaches while the hawkers outside railway station too has been voiced as inconveniencing for commuters.
