MAKING SEA WATER POTABLE IS NOT AN EASY JOB- MCGM In order to solve the problem of water shortage in the city, Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray and Mumbai Mayor Shubha Raul are working on a project in which sea water can be converted into potable water. However, according to MCGM, it is not a feasible idea. Calling the project unsuccessful, MCGM additional commissioner Anil Diggikar stated it would involve a tedious process beginning with feasibility of the project in the city, then diving at 10 to 12 km deep in to the sea and then filtration of water. GANESH IDOLS MADE OF BONE CHINA SHOULD BE IMMERSED IN ARTIFICIAL PONDS- MCGM In order to keep the city pollution free, MCGM has made an appeal to all the Ganesh Mandals in city to immerse the bone china ganesh idols into the artificial ponds made by the civic body in each of the ward. Many of the citizens prefer to purchase Ganesh idols made up of bone China due to its attractiveness and later on immerse them into the sea. The material, however, makes the sea water polluted. Therefore, MCGM has constructed 17 artificial ponds in all the wards so that the local devotees could immerse the idols into these ponds. Additional MCGM commissioner Madhav Sangle gave us more insight. With cameraperson Raju Sharma, Hansraj Kanuajia for NMTV News.
