MEMBERS PROTEST MCGM CIRCULAR The MCGM has warned all mandals celebrating Navratri not to display any political hoarding or posters on the road or footpath during the festival. The circular issued to all ward offices and signed by Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak, instructed that because of model code of conduct, no mandal that will celebrate the festival should be allowed to display commercial advertisement on the roadside or pavements. The circular further said that the mandals would not be permitted to display posters, hoardings related to any of the political party, organisation or political personality. This circular has been strongly opposed at the MCGM Standing Committee meet. MUNICIPAL CORPORATION UNDER SUSPICION ON THE ISSUE OF STRAY DOGS MCGM Standing Committee member Sameer Desai accused the MCGM administration for not disclosing statistics from the Health department for the number of stray dogs it has treated so far. What rises suspicion over the facts given by MCGM is that last year the civic body had claimed that there were 76,000 stray dogs in Mumbai and that it had sterilized 150 lakh dogs. Desai further criticized the administration saying that the Standing Committee members had never seem any sterilization of the dogs in their area.
