St. Mary’s Multipurpose High School, Vashi celebrated the Birth centenary of Metropolitan Dr. Philipos Mar Theophilus and its Silver Jubilee recently. Present during the celebrations was Maharashtra Governor K Shankarnarayan along with Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. St. Mary’s Multipurpose High School, Vashi organized a grand event for the Birth centenary of Metropolitan Dr. Philipos Mar Theophilus and completing 25 years of academic excellence. The chief guest for the evening was the Governor of Maharashtra K. Sankaranarayanan. Other dignitaries present during the event were Minister for Non-Conventional Energy and State Excise Ganesh Naik, Mayor Sagar Naik, Justice Benjamin Koshy along with the Principal of the school Abraham Joseph. On this occasion , Dr. Mar Theophilus Memorial Award for Statesmanship was introduced and the award was conferred to Dr. P.C Alexander, Former “Governor of Maharashtra & Tamil Nadu. Due to health reasons, while Dr. P.C. Alexander could not attend the function, his son Ashok Alexander accepted the award on his behalf. This award was presented to Dr.P.C Alexander for his lifelong commitment and service to the Nation. The school magazine and a silver jubilee momento was also released by the governor. In his address, the Governor congratulated Dr.P.C Alexander for being honoured with the award and was happy to be a part of the function. Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Nail also congratulated the school and gave them his best wishes. The Principal of the school, Fr. Abraham Joseph, was indeed in high spirits, for the school completing its 25 years. Speaking to the media, Mar Geevarghese Coorilos, Diocesan Metropolitan and Manager, shared his views about the award. The ex-principals of the school were also honored by the chief guest. The award giving ceremony was followed by a cultural programme, which included various dance performances, through which the children expressed their Joy.
