STANDING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS COMMENCES AT MCGM

mcgm1The elections of the MCGM Standing Committee commenced recently. With a stronghold of the BJP and Shiv Sena in the civic body, without much speculation, the Standing Committee elections saw the victory of Ravindra Waikar who resumed the post of the Standing Committee Chairman for the fourth time. Ravindra Waikar received 14 votes who also received support from the Akhil Bhartiye Sena corporators. Contesting against him was Sameer Desai who received 11 votes. Amongst the corporators, Samajwadi party’s corporator Fazallur Rehman Chaudhary did not cast his vote and staged a protest against water shortage. On the other hand, MNS corporator Rajendra Lad was absent. The elections for the MCGM education Committee was also held. The stronghold of Shiv Sena and BJP alliance was also seen here with BJP Corporator and former deputy Mayor Dr Ram Borat receiving 14 votes whereas the opposition party candidate Sarika Greses of NCP acquired 10 votes. The corporators of MNS and Samajwadi party were absent during these elections. In all there are 26 members in the committee. With cameraperson Jai Dutta, Ashok Jagtap for NMTV News.
