The Development Plan for 27 villages which were excluded from Kalyan Dombivli (DP), and Manori-Gorai, has been approved by the state government. The state is also planning a comprehensive proposal for MIHAN.
Under the development plan, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has been given the responsibility of creating a growth centre spread across 1000 hectares.
In another development plan for Gorai-Manori-Uttan region, the development authority has decided to come up with a recreation and tourism zone. The region would see an estimated investment of Rs 1,000 crore in Gorai, which has been earmarked as an entertainment zone. The works will include social infrastructure, road network and water to promote tourism. According to the plan, recreation and tourism is likely to be confined to Gaothan or villages and will not be taken up at the eco-sensitive sites.
