The much awaited final notification for the deemed conveyance is likely to be implemented within three weeks, according to state housing secretary. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan had last year approved the rules for the Maharashtra Ownership of Flats Act, 2005. The rules, once published, will allow thousands of housing societies, whose conveyance is being held back for decades by builders, to get a deemed conveyance within 60 days of making an application before the competent authority. However, many questions are still arising pertaining to the hurdles in obtaining the deemed conveyance. It is being assured that the government was ensuring that it would be a smooth affair for the flat owners and housing societies would be able to obtain deemed conveyance based on any single document submitted to the deputy district registrar. A nodal officer would be appointed whose responsibility will be to get the other papers in order. Flat owners were assured that deemed conveyance will be made available within 60 days, with or without the consent of the builders.
