The State Bank of India has commenced Social Savings Banking at its CBD Belapur office. Through this the bank aims at rendering help to the needy and under privileged. It has come to the help of Sudam Jadhav – a person with disability and a resident of Ambarnath. He lost his legs in a tragic accident a year ago. A driver, the accident put him in bed and out of his job. For more than a year he has been jobless. With the help of artificial legs, he can work again but this would cost him Rs. 40-50 thousand. Evidently Sudam could not afford it till now. The State Bank of India has forwarded a helping hand to this man through their Social Service Banking. The facility was officially commenced by helping Sudam at the hands of the bank’s GM J P Varma. On the occasion, the bank also distributed sweets and crackers to children of various orphanages. The General Manager informed Navi Mumbai News that in the coming years also the bank will help the needy and underprivileged through the social service banking and the bank itself will donate Rs. 1 lakh towards this.The recipients of the help provided by the bank were all smiles. The bank indeed has made this Diwali a joyful experience for them.
