In the wake of voting for the Thane, Raigad and Mawal Parliamentary constituencies, the Maharashtra government has announced a public holiday on April 23, when these constituencies will go for polls. The orders of a public holiday on April 23 were issued by the state government for all the constituencies where elections will take place. The orders are to be implemented by the district collector and the district election officer, stated a release issued by the state government. Accordingly, all the government offices in Navi Mumbai which falls under Thane Parliamentary constituency will remain closed on April 23. In Mawal LS constituency wherein a majority of area from Navi Mumbai falls, Azam Pansare of the NCP-Congress-RPI combine is fighting against Shiv Sena-BJP-PWP combine’s Gajanan Babar.
