State Revenue Minister Narayan Rane said that there was no need to proceed in the Amitabh Bachchan Pune land case as the later had withdrawn his wish to surrender the land. Amitabh Bachchan has intimated to Maharashtra government that he did not wish to surrender his land in Mava tehsil of Pune district and there was therefore no question of proceeding further in this matter, Revenue Minister Narayan Rane. After the actor had indicated that he wished to surrender the land in the wake of controversy over his status as a farmer, state authorities had not taken any action on the issue as the case on his status as a farmer was pending in Allahabad High Court, Rane told reporters. The Court later ruled that Bachchan was a farmer, Rane said. His earlier application for surrendering the land was not processed pending the court ruling, he said. Now that the actor has informed us that he does not wish to surrender the land, there is no question of proceeding further in the matter, Rane added. NMTV Bureau Report.
