After the high court passed the order to the state to reduce the weight of handbags in schools, the state government has set the deadline for November 30, to implement this rule. According to a government resolution (GR) issued by the education department, the guidelines for reducing school bag weight have been formed and published in a GR dated July 21. Now the education department has to circulate the notice to all schools so that steps can be taken to ensure it.
As per the guidelines both parents and schools must ensure that the weight of the school bags is not more than 10% of the student’s weight.
