The state’s higher and technical education department is looking to fill up around 6,000 vacancies – teaching as well as non-teaching – in government institutes across Maharashtra by the year-end. The vacancies include those in government engineering colleges, industrial training Institutes (ITIs), government technical schools and colleges, bachelor of education (B.Ed) colleges, regional offices and head offices among others. However, these 6,000 vacancies do not include those which currently exist in the universities across the state. The review of the teaching posts in universities across the state, with the exceptions of Mumbai University, SNDT University and Shivaji University (Kolhapur), is complete and the process of filling them up is under way.
