STATE URBAN DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ISSUES ORDERS TO PANVEL TEHSILDAR OFFICE TO SURVEY ILLEGAL MOBILE TOWERS IN PANVEL NODE

mobail-1After Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, looks like the Panvel Tehsildar’s office is now gearing up to take action against illegal cellular or mobile towers. Not voluntarily though. The action is being initiative after orders from the State Urban Development Department. It was Panvel MLA Vivek Patil who has drawn the attention of the state on the issue in the state assembly’s monsoon session. The State Urban Development Department is taking serious cognizance of illegal cellular or mobile towers in Panvel. The department has sent orders in this regards to the local administration of Panvel. At the Panvel Tehsiladr’s Office we were informed that the UD dept has asked CIDCO and Panvel Municipal Council to conduct a survey of the mobile towers in Panvel. On paper, there are 74 mobile towers in Panvel that include 2 of TATA company, 5 of MTNL, 2 of BSNL, 11 of Idea, 13 of Reliance, 19 of Vodafone, 12 of BPL and 10 of Airtel. According to a government rule, the local administration of any city is responsible to ensure that mobile towers are erected only after complying with the state rules and norms.
