Women mayors and MP Supriya Sule presided over a workshop on the theme of primary education in municipal schools and bettering conditions for underprivileged and special children at MCGM. The workshop was inaugurated by Mumbai Mayor Dr. Shubha Raul. The workshop saw a host of Mayors who graced the dais for the inauguration of the workshop that discussed and deliberated on the concerns and betterment of primary education in MCGM schools. Rajya Sabha MP Supriya Sule and other city mayors including Navi Mumbai Mayor Anjani Bhoir were some of the dignitaries who were present as MCGM Mayor Dr. Shubha Raul inaugurated the workshop. The various topics that the workshop took up included all round development of students, the role of teachers for making this possible, the community’s responsibilities and duties, betterment of primary education in MCGM schools, reaching education to the underprivileged children living in slums and the children in with disabilities. On a question of students preferring private schools, the cut throat competition in private schools during admission time and the rampant donation system, Rajya Sabha MP Supriya Sule said that it the parents who must arrest this practice. She added that for immediate bettering of quality of education being imparted in MCGM schools, there was an urgent need to increase the number of English medium MCGM schools and provide schools with facilities like computers.
