TAEKWONDO FESTIVAL CULMINATES IN THE CITY

It was a day of fun and excitement that awaited the students, Taekwondo enthusiasts and players at D Y Patil stadium where the closing ceremony of the Jalnawala Sports Research and Training Centre’s Open Taekwondo Games ’09 was held. The guests present included Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Ramrao Wagh, MLC Manda Mhatre, President of Dr. D Y Patil Sports Academy Vijay Patil amongst others. The three day event culminated with the students of JSRTC and K-Tigers performing different forms and styles of Taekwondo. At the closing ceremony, various cultural programmes were held including dance depicting the different traditions of the country. During the event, the dignitaries present congratulated Nilesh Jalnawala, the organizer of this grand festival for promoting Taekwondo as a sport in India. Taekwondo is the national sport of South Korea which has increasingly gained acceptance worldwide. Many Indian schools and universities have extended support to promote Taekwondo in a big way across the country.
