The Rabodi area in Thane witnessed tension between two communities over a Navratri pandal. The situation went so much out of hand, that the police has to resort to firing, reports Praveen Sonawane. Tensions developed more in the evening at Rabodi in Thane. During the conflict a youth lost his live while several were injured. A huge mob gathered in the area, stoned the Rabodi police station and set fire to three cars and a bakery. The police department informed that a group was erecting a pandal and an arch. People from one community objected and there was stone throwing and when the police reached the spot, they were attacked. BJP MLA Vinod Tawdene met with the Thane Police Commissioner and demanded immediate investigation. Deputy chairperson of the state legislative council Vasant Daukhare too met with the police commissioner. Even as the two sides traded charges of police bias and a well-planned conspiracy came the news that Deputy CM R R Patil had ordered the suspension of DCP Sahebrao Patil for his failure to take prompt action. The situation however for the time being is under control. With cameraperson Jai Datta, Praveen Sonawane for NMTV News.
