TERI & UNEP in collaboration with NMMC celebrates ‘World Wetlands Day’ at Sagar Vihar’s Vashi

With an aim to sensitize communities and make the citizens and youth environmentally aware on the ever-increasing challenges of plastic pollution, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in collaboration with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), National Service scheme (NSS) and several other partner organisations organized a cleanup drive event at Vashi’s Sagar Vihar with citizens coming together and volunteering in large numbers on the occasion of World Wetlands Day.
With Shri. Annasaheb Misal, IAS, Hon’ble Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) marking the event by his presence appreciated the initiative taken by TERI & UNEP in collaboration with NMMC and urged Navi Mumbaikars to actively contribute to make Navi Mumbai city plastic pollution free.
The start of the event was marked by endorsing the idea of ‘Rethink Plastic’ campaign and unveiling of the waste plastic collage made by TERI team.
Other dignitaries and authorities present praised the initiative and emphasized on curbing plastic menace around the world along with urging citizens to to adopt eco-friendly methods and real solutions in working actively in progress to make the city plastic pollution free and one healthy for living.
