While the NMMC has received much commendation with its concretized Thane Belapur Road, what it lacks are bus sheds. This has been causing a lot of inconvenience to commuters. Thane-Belapur road has perhaps proved itself as a blessing for vehicle users and drivers alike, but for bus commuters it has brought trouble in disguise as there is no bus shade for commuters. The people who suffer the most due to lack of a bus shed are elderly persons and women. Most of the time NMMT and ST buses use BEST’s stop for halting there buses, conceivably adding to the woes of the commutersThe scorching heat sometimes leads to fainting also. Turbhe Naka is also one such stop where there is no bus shed. At afternoon it’s very hard to bear with the Sun, while waiting for the bus. When we spoke with the General Manager of NMMT, Jitendra Papalkar, assured the NMMC Standing Committee has approved the proposal to place modern sheds on the Thane Belapur road. He cleared the air that why common bus polls are used for NMMT as well as for BEST. People complain that buses do not stop at the assigned place, on that he replied that if such things brought in notice then action will be taken. Furthermore he added that Thane-Belapur bus shed will be provided with ATM’s. While its definitely good news that very soon advanced sheds would be placed on the Thane Belapur road, but all that remains in our hands is to wait and watch as to when these sheds would be positioned.
