Keeping in mind the increasing cases of women harassment in Thane, the Thane police department has decided to open a telephone helpline service. Through this service, the police will take immediate action on the complaints registered. The Thane police department has decided to upgrade its helpline services by adding another telephone helpline number 25424444. Earlier complaints could only be registered on one helpline number, which connect to the Thane police control that is 25443535. There has been an increase in the cases of women harassment in the node and many times the police department is not able to control it due to delay in reporting the incident. The Joint Police Commissioner of Thane informed that a stringent drive has been started to catch these women teasers. Akshara organization, an NGO along with the Thane police department has started this drive. Where on one side the organization would be posting banners at schools and colleges and other public places, the police department would increase its security forces to get immediate notification of the culprits and take action against them.
