GN-SN-naik-October 22 marks – one complete year to the election of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik as MLA of Belapur constituency and his younger son Sandeep Naik as MLA of Airoli constituency. The one year can be best defined by saying that Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik are going strong and so is the NCP that it was ever before in Navi Mumbai. NMTV News tracks the one year of the father son duo – the victories and wins to celebrate what has been achieved and of course what the city continues to expect from them in the years to come. It has been a great year for the NCP. Things have been wonderful and memorable. The party under the leadership of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, elected their MP in the form of Dr. Sanjeev Naik, Sandeep Naik as their MLA in Airoli and Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik himself as MLA in Belapur and finally came in majority in NMMC. Last year October, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik was facing the biggest battle of his political career – perhaps the toughest one and a year later – in October 2010 – Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik is enjoying absolute power in Navi Mumbai. For Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik this one year has definitely been “Wow”! That is why the one year of Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik’s MLA-ship can be best defined as “going strong”. As soon as they won the assembly polls, the party under Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s leadership started working strategies for the NMMC Elections held early this year. By May, Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s charisma once again made NCP sweep the NMMC Polls and Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s nephew adorned the role of Mayor. One would have thought that municipal elections and later the code of conduct due to MLC elections would have halted Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik but guess this can never be true with leaders. Soon after winning, MLA Sandeep Naik started the MLA at Your Doorsteps drive completely defying the belief that all politicians vanish for 5 years after winning elections. Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik also continued their popular social initiatives from the private platforms. The first being the “Green Movement 2010” that encouraged participation of adults and children alike. Soon after came yet another successful program of distributing certificates and documents that all get only at the Collector’s Office under one roof at Koperkhairane’s R F Naik School. Considering that it was admission time, all citizens especially parents gave their thumbs up to the initiative. Another popular public initiative is the Preparatory Examinations, which is a one-of-its-kind initiatives may be in the entire state. Then came another hi-tech initiative – video conferencing. Formally inaugurated at the hands of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, video conferencing helps them to connect with the residents of their constituency within fraction of seconds. And then of course there is the “Navi Mumbai Yacht Club” inaugurated on Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s birthday last month. The club aims at training aspiring sailors to play for Olympics. So the year might have been slow in the administrative sense for Navi Mumbai, but that definitely did not stop Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik to continue their work on fronts of environment, education, transport and public welfare. Throughout Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik continued raising issue of Navi Mumbai at the state level while MLA Sandeep Naik continued the follow up at government offices like MSEDC and Rationing Office at Thane. What, however, has won the masses all over again is Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s decision to go to court to legalize slums erected up to 2010. Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik are studying all the legal angles to ensure that they get the court’s relief that will stop the encroachment drives against the poor living in slums. While a social-action packed year comes to an end for Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik, bigger challenges lie ahead for the leaders of fulfilling other elections promises – primarily that of getting the 2.5 FSI sanctioned for JN Type apartments and setting the ball rolling for the water transport, road transport and other public amenity projects announced by them during elections. Seeing the great start that Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik have got in the first year of their tenures, there is reason to hope that all said will be done as well; in the coming years.
