THANE GUARDIAN MINISTER GANESH NAIK HONORS TALENTED WOMEN ON THE OCCASION OF KRANTIJYOTI SAVITRIBAI PHULE JAYANTI

ganesh-naik-1The Women and Child Welfare Committee of NMMC organized an event at Vishnudas Bhave auditorium in Vashi to celebrate Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary which is observed on 3rd Jan every year. Giving a major boost to the working of the committee, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik announced during the event that now 20% funds from the budget will be allocated to this committee, which was earlier only 5%. Like every year, this year too NMMC celebrated the birth anniversary of the great educationist Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule. Organised by the Women and Child Welfare Committee of NMMC, various competitions like making cooking contest, rangoli etc. were held for the women. Present as the chief guest during the event was Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik who seemed to have been impressed with the items and artwork made by the women. The winners of the competition were felicitated at the hands of the minister. The Committee also awards the Savitribhai Phule award which, this year was given to Turbhe Store based Shivprena Vikas Mahila Mandal. The mandal was given a trophy along with cash prize of Rs 21000. While speaking about the various schemes of the Women and Child Welfare Committee, the Chairperson Netra Shirke expressed the shortage of funds which was impacting the work of the committee. Replying to this demand, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik announced that the funds allotted to the committee from the budget would be increased. The minister also advised the members of this committee to even educate the women through their schemes so that the funds allotted for women and child welfare is utilized appropriately. Present on the dias along with the minister was Mayor Sagar Naik, Leader of the House Vitthal More, NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Anant Sutar along with corporators.
