The height of the Barvi Dam has increased by seven meters promising to bring a relief to the Thane water crisis. The work on increasing the height of Barvi Dam was underway at the site for nearly four years now. The challenging task has finally ended. From this year onwards, the dam will provide an additional storage capacity for the dam. The work of installing the new gates however, is still pending at the site. According to sources of the state government, once the rehabilitation of the project affected is taken care of, Barvi Dam will supply water twice its present capacity. For now, the present storage of water in Barvi Dam promises relief from water crisis for Thanites for nearly a month and a half. With cameraperson Ravi Nikam, Monika Bhosale for NMTV News.
