THANE POLICE’S DRIVE LANDS CHAIN SNATCHERS IN POLICE NET

thane-1In order to control the growing incidences of chain snatching within the jurisdiction of Thane Police Commissionerate, a special campaign was held by Thane Crime Branch, under which 9 offenders have been arrested. Shockingly two of the arrested are women. The police has seized Rs. 20 lakhs from them. The Kalyan Crime Branch that comes under the jurisdiction of the Thane Police Commissionerate has arrested five persons for conspiring theft. According to the police, the arrested were planning to rob jewelry shop at Dombivli. On receiving a hunch, the Kalyan unit laid a net and arrested them red handed. One of the accused is wanted in three cases registered with the Navi Mumbai police while another is wanted in 9 offences. Police has seized stolen goods worth Rs. 15 lakhs which includes chains, revolver, 1 Accent car, chopper and cash. On the other hand the Ulhasnagar Crime Branch has arrested three people in another similar case of planned theft.
