THANE RESIDENTS HIJACK TMT BUS FOR IRREGULAR SERVICES

Thane residents sent out a strong message to authorities and leaders when the literally hijacked a TMT Bus for pathetic services despite continuously pleas and appeals of commuters. The hijack happened when residents of Vrindavan society in Thane ran out of patience and forced a TMT bus to take them to the city’s made depot that too without paying the fares. These outraged residents live in Vrindavan society in Thane. Everyday working women, men and senior citizens of this society are hassled as the TMT bus from their society to Thane bus station comes at irregular intervals, which means that for a 15 minutes ride, the residents have to wait for an entire hour. When the complaints of the residents went unheard by the civic authorities, the commuters took matters in their hand. The residents literally hijacked the TMT bus that arrived at their stop and forced the driver to take them to Thane bus depot that too without paying the ticket fare. Once at the depot, the commuters demanded an immediate meeting with the management people of TMT. Hearing the news of the protest, local BJP corporator Milind Patankar and MLC Jitendra Ahwad arrived at the spot too. While the leaders backed protests of commuters and demanded better TMT services, the officer in charge Sarmukadam gave only assurances but refused to commit anything. The so-called leaders who arrived at the spot might be trying to get political mileage here but the protest has not only exposed how public representatives fail to do bring solutions to citizen’s grievances but it also sends out a strong message that you cannot take tax paying citizens for granted all the time.
