Thane residents unite for better roads

Thane residents, along with hundreds of housing societies, will alight at Thane roads, which are in a bad state due to potholes and traffic jams. The citizens of Thane began the drive of join Car Blinker campaign on Friday morning from Hiranandani Estate, Waghbil, Vijay Sales to Airoli bridge and Anand Nagar toll naka.

The Thanekars face difficulties every day while travelling from Thane to Mumbai. Traffic snarls from Ghodbunder, Teen Haath Naka, Kalwa to Anand Nagar toll naka and other parts of Thane is a routine affair, which gives a headache to motorists and leave them fuming with anger. The twin city of Kalyan and Dombvli reported the three pothole deaths in four days in July this year, waking up the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), which started to fill the potholes.

Kasber Augustine, president of Thane Citizen Foundation, said, “Our demand is the civic body and PWD must provide the citizens with their basic rights, such as good roads offering a smooth drive. ”

Alongwith, The residents of Thane have also formed whatsapp group which name is “Road Commuters Forum” in which near about 230 members. They have campaigning for their work towards city on social sites and media’s such as tweeter, Facebook, Whatsapp, using that tags and share it which name is FixRoadsElseNoVotes, KhaddaChallenge.
