THE COUNTDOWN TO NMMC ELECTIONS 2010 OFFICIALLY BEGIN WITH DRAW OF RESERVATION

nmmc-eletion-6The official countdown to the NMMC Elections 2010 has begun with the draw of reservation that concluded at the Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium. The countdown to the NMMC elections 2010 has finally begun. The first stage of the process of the election began with the draw of reservation of 89 wards. Under the leadership of NMMC Commissioner Vijay Nahata, the process was completed successfully. There was tension and anxiety amongst all corporators, with the present corporators hoping for no change in reservation in their ward while the aspiring corporators too had their fingers crossed for a reservation in their favor. In the previous NMMC elections held in 2005, there were a total of 90 wards. Unlike last municipal elections, this time 14 villages have been excluded from NMMC jurisdiction for upcoming elections in 2010. In Koperkhairane too a change was seen with 9 wards as oppose to 8 wards in the last elections. Speaking to the media, NMMC Commissioner Vijay Nahata said that the entire process went on smoothly as the first stage of the NMMC elections 2010 was held with transparency. He also said that if any objections do arise, then the people have a months time to raise their objections to the State Election Commission.
