A huge South African crowd joined in with all the leaders around the world in the farewell ceremony of Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela who was known as the anti-apartheid icon had touched hearts of not just his own countrymen but all over the world. The great leader was memorialized in a boisterous stadium in Soweto, South Africa. The huge crowd was not bothered with the rain or the fact that it took hours to reach the memorial service, they just knew that they have to gift the most grandest farewell to their leader and that they did. People of all castes, from any profession, rich or poor, all joined hands in hands with each other and singing clapping and chanting for their leader led the path in unity. The farewell ceremony and the unity of the South Africans made the whole tribute completely over-whelming and touching.
‘In his lifetime, Madiba mingled with kings, queens and Presidents. At the core he was a man of the people. A simple man. I am sure Madiba is smiling from above as he looks down at the multitude of diversity gathered here, for this is what he strove for—for this what he strove for –the equality of man, the brotherhood of humanity’ as stated by Gen. Thanduxolo Mandela, one of the family member. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
