Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said that those doubting David Coleman Headley’s revelations on Isharat Jahan during his deposition before a Special Mumbai Court are indulging in ‘petty politics’.
“Raising doubts about Headley’s statement for petty politics is anti-national because for the first time a credible witness has directly indicted Pakistan for sponsoring terrorist activity in India and if we raise doubts, it will directly help Pakistan,” Fadnavis said.
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit earlier today alleged that a deal was signed that Headley will name Ishrat Jahan as a terrorist.
Dikshit also said that the Ishrat Jahan case was a very clear case of human rights violation and ever since it took place, the Gujarat Government or the police have not been able to provide any evidence to the fact that she was linked in any form of anti-national activity.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taunted Nitish Kumar for referring to Ishrat Jahan as ‘Bihar’s daughter’ saying the statements must be taken back.
Making one of the biggest revelations, the Pakistani-American terrorist today named Ishrat Jehan as an Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative.
When Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam asked him about Ishrat Jehan, he said he had overheard some LeT operatives talking about her. Headley also confirmed there was a separate naval wing in LeT.
