Forty five Tibetans, including nine women, were detained after they attempted to hold a protest rally near the Chinese Consulate located in the business district of Nariman Point. The protestors were detained and taken to the Marine Drive Police Station after they attempted to protest near the Chinese Consulate. As per the Bombay High Court order, the protestors could not gather in any part of South Mumbai, barring Azad Maidan, to carry out the protests, according to the police. The protestors, who began arriving near the Consulate since, were quickly bundled into the waiting police vans, which took them to the nearby police station. Roads leading to the Consulate and surrounding areas were put under tight security, with police personnel checking public and private vehicles for protestors.
