CIDCO’s Urban Haat is once again coming up with a mela for Navi Mumbaikars, this time the Makarsankrant mela. The fair to be held till the 17th January will see artisans from other states are participating. CIDCO’s Urban Haat has been holding unique melas and fairs where artisans from across the country bring in their artwork and handlooms and display here. Recently, a Silk and Cotton mela was held at Urban Haat where 7 weavers from different states exhibited their products for 14 days in which more than 10,000 visitors visited Urban Haat. Visitors from outside of Navi Mumbai also visited Urban Haat in large numbers and enjoyed the natural beauty of Urban Haat while purchasing unique handloom products from different states. Now, CIDCO is organizing Makarsankrant Mela in which handloom and handicraft artisans from other states are also participating. We caught up with the manager of Urban Haat, KSV Nair who informed about the mela. The participants are artisans from handloom, handicraft, floriculture artificial jewellery in addition to dress materials. After the Makarsankrant mela, Urban Haat’s melas will be back with Surabhi Dhamaka. With cameraperson Santosh Bodhare, Monika Bhosale for NMTV News.
