Independent candidate Ravindra Sawant is a Congress party worker who decided to run for election when he was denied candidature. Accusing the official Congress candidate Krishan Pujari of allegedly being a bar owner who isn’t a Congress loyalist, Ravindra Sawant has appealed Congress voters to press the symbol of “whistle” on voting day to save the Congress and give a credible representation of their ward in NMMC. Ravindra Sawant is a hard core loyalist of the thoughts and principles of Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi. He has been a Congress party worker in Navi Mumbai for more than 10 years. But he was in for an unjustified shock when he was denied candidature from his ward no. 68 and instead Krishna Pujari – who allegedly is a bar owner was awarded the candidature. What hurt Ravindra Sawant more was that Krishna Pujari had first given an interview for candidature to NCP and when NCP denied Pujari a ticket, he came to the Congress den. Krishna Pujari – the Congress candidate of ward no. 68 says that he had in fact given an interview to NCP first. Knowing that injustice has been done to him only because he did not work for Navi Mumbai Vikas Agadhi during assembly, Ravindra Sawant decided to fight the municipal elections as an independent candidate. His symbol is whistle. Voters of the ward who have seen Ravindra Sawant’s work say that they do not want a corporator who allegedly is a bar owner. A supporter of Sawant recalled how he had stood by her family during a hard time. The candidate Ravindra Sawant spoke about his election issues. He also appealed to voters to vote for the symbol of “whistle” on April 11 to keep the Congress ideology alive in his ward. He also voiced confidence of a victory.
