Indians are crazy for cricket and one of its own kind of extravaganza is being held for the first time in Navi Mumbai. The All India Lal Bahadur Shastri National Twenty 20 Cricket Championship 2009 was recently inaugurated at Sanpada. Around 16 national teams from various states are participating in this Championship. To inaugurate the event and applaud the participants, the chief guests were MLC Manda Mhatre; Police Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Gulabrao Pol; Deputy General Manager Finance of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation A.G. Gosavi, Assistant Commissioner of Police Purshottam Karad, Actress Veena Banerjee along with other dignitaries. This championship would be a milestone in the career of the players, as they are getting the opportunity to participate in the mega event. Manda Mhatre said that she is happy with the event and welcomed the players: CP Gulabrao Pol said that players will enjoy here and would also learn about culture. Actress Veena Banerjee was happy too for the occasion and said that it’s a blessing in disguise for the aspiring players as cricket is an international phenomenon. The Punjab coach said that they have come like others with the motive to win. The convener of the event informed us that how the event would unfold and how the Asian Team would be formed. Due to gaining popularity of the 20/20 cricket, arrangement of such Twenty-20 Championship is no wonder a delight for the Cricket lovers in Navi Mumbai.
