Water--ProblamDespite provisions of financial assistance from central & state govt , the conditions of the tribals & rural areas still remains unchanged as funds allotted are misused. Although a water tank has been built, residents of Dhundhare village still face water shortage as the tank is not functional for the last 5 months. Water is the need of every individual. It is the one of the most important element for our day to day life and one cannot imagine living a life without it. These are the people of Dhudhare village near Panvel. Water shortage has forced them to walk miles to fetch a bucket of water. The kind of drinking water used by the Dhundhare villagers is extremely impure & unhygienic but having only one well that has almost dried up; the residents have no alternative but to consume this water. The water tank that was built by the village sarpanch from the allotted funds to supply clean water to the villagers is a joke as it has not been operational for the last 5 months. The villagers are more often affected by cholera & other water borne diseases due to the consumption of contaminated water and lack of medical facilities or hospitals in the surrounding area has made survival more difficult for them. Shockingly, even after the worsening conditions of the villagers there is absolutely no concern that the government or the village authorities have shown towards the villagers.
