TWO STUDENTS DIE AFTER DROWNING IN A LAKE AT KHARGHAR

khargar1In a shocking incident, two college students who had gone for a swim at a pond in Kharghar drowned. The Kharghar police is investigating the matter. Two students, Laeeque Sayeed Khan who was 18 years old and Rashid Wahid Ali Shaikh, 17 of age of Anjuman Islamic High School in Turbhe, drowned in the lake behind Bharatiya Vidyapeeth College in Kharghar. Khan and Shaikh, along with their other four friends, had gone to the lake after their college got over. Laeeque and Rashid went far inside the lake and met watery grave while the remaining three came out safely. Their bodies were taken to Panvel Municipal Hospital for post mortem. Assistant police inspector at Kharghar police station Rajendra Pawar informed us that the students were resident of Govandi. It is being said that the deceased Laeek Khan and Sayeed Khan did not know how to swim. An estranged Shaikh Rashid father of Sayeed Khan’s expressed his grief to NMTV. The police stated that a notice board has been placed at the spot mentioning that the spot is very dangerous and going into the lake is prohibited. However, people still go there even after knowing that it can be dangerous. Meanwhile, a relative of one of the victims stressed on the need of a security guard at the spot since people who are new to the place may not be aware of the danger.
