Uddhav Thackeray backs Cable Operators and Distributors against Reliance Jio

Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray has Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Reliance Jio This was at a meeting to announce complete support to cable operators across Maharashtra. The meeting was organized by Cable Operators and Distributors Association, in protest of Reliance Jio, that had on July 5 this year, announced ambitious plans to provide high speed broadband services in 1,100 cities across the country.

Promising support to the cable operators, Udhdav Thackeray said that cable operators and distributors have set up their businesses after years of hard work and Shiv Sena will not let them suffer.

Uddhav Thackeray said that the promise of free internet was mouse trap.

He said that if Reliance Jio is giving everything free, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should learn from the company. Petrol, diesel, vegetables, fruits and milk should also be given free by the government.

Uddhav Thackeray recalled that at the time of CAS, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was PM and they were in alliance, but late Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray stood in support of cable operators.

He asked for guarantee from Reliance that only if they write on paper that they will give free internet for 50 years, cable operators would stop the opposition to Jio.

He advised Jio not to enter the market by destroying the livelihood of others and that they should enter into an understanding with these people.

He advised all cable operators to stay united.

Also present during the meeting were CODA President MLA Anil Parab, MLA Prakash Phaterpekar, Prakash Surve Shiv Sena Raju Patil Pradeep Chitre, Ajay Oak Congress corporator Raju Mera and Ashok Singh . While MLA Anil Parab voiced confidence that if they are united, they can beat any force, MLA Prakash Phaterpekar said that they will fight it out and MLA Prakash Surve said that Reliance wants to bring monopoly of content and news.

Shiv Sena leader and CODA member Raju Patil said that when time comes they will fight while CODA member Pradeep Chitre said that they are confident of winning that after the dialogue with Uddhav Thackeray.

CODA Member Ajay Oak said that they will fight for our livelihood.

Also present were other CODA members including Sada Kadam, Mangesh Walanj, Paresh Thakkar, Ashok Singh, Govind Johnwin, Robert Raj, Ranjeet Mathur and Ashish Shirke. Bureau report – NMTV News.
