The legislative assembly once again saw unruly scenes over the issue of “United Maharashtra” on Monday. The Shiv Sena members were so aggressive in opposing the idea of dividing Maharashtra that one of them went ahead to pick up the mace in front of the Speaker.
The opposition Congress and the NCP joined the Shiv Sena in targeting the government and the unruly scenes forced the house to be adjourned thrice before the day’s business was wound up.
Though, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made it clear that there is no proposal before the state government to carve out a separate state of Vidarbha, Shiv Sena members continued to target the BJP over a private members’ bill brought by one of its MPs in the parliament.
Shiv Sena members argued that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised while campaigning for assembly elections that he won’t commit the sin of dividing the Maharashtra, but now one of his MPs is committing that sin.
