US investigation reveals Walmart paid millions in bribe to India


A recent probe by the US government  has revealed that retail giant Walmart allegedly paid a huge amount of bribes amounting to millions of dollars in India for opening up their stores here. While this is being called”speed money”, meant for low-ranking government officials to speed up real estate licences or push goods through customs.

The Indian and the Mexican operations of Walmart came under the scanner after reports suggested that one of the world’s largest retailer bribed local officials.
