Vande Mataram is not about any religion or community but is symbolic of nationalism stated senior journalist Muzaffar Hussain at an event held at Vashi. Senior journalist Padmashree Muzaffar Hussain gave a moving speech at an event held at Vashi to mark the centenary celebrations of Vande Mataram. He said that Vande Mataram is not just the national song but provokes feelings of nationalism. He says the controversy over Vande Mataram stank of communal interests that work on disuniting the society. He said that it was unfortunate that a few Muslim organizations voiced protest over the song. Muzaffar Hussain added that the controversy that marred the centenary celebrations is a political conspiracy and the decision to make it compulsory should be welcomed. He said that anyone who heard the song in its true spirit would enjoy the feelings of strong patriotism.
