A young boy who’s just 14 year old is, with his unique talent of playing Sarod, going to participate in Pogo Amazing Kids contest. We met with this child for a special interview. It is said that every human being has some or the other talent embedded within him. Important thing is, one should recognize and bring it out at the right time. This is Roopak Anand Naigaonkar, a class 9 teenager studying in Navi Mumbai High School Vashi, began playing an Indian Musical instrument called Sarod at the age of 8. Leading cartoon channel Pogo had devised a talent show for children between the age group of 4 and 14 and in this Roopak has been chosen in the Indian Classic music category as a finalist among two others from Delhi and Chennai. Sarod is difficult to play as compared to other string instruments like sitar and violin. Roopak has inherited the love for Indian music from his father Anand Naigaonkar who has a doctorate in percussion and has been teaching students at Gandharva vidyalaya for several years. He also has a few honors to his credit. He is a recipient of Scholarship from the center for Cultural research and training, Government of India, New Delhi.
